Zimmer Biomet and Peritas AI Collaborate to Explore Agentic Connected Robotics to Support Surgical Teams with a Smarter, Unified Operating Room

(Warsaw, Ind. and WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.) March 18, 2026 — Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. (NYSE and SIX: ZBH), and Peritas AI Inc. are collaborating to explore how artificial intelligence (AI), workflow software, humanoid robots, surgical robots and human surgeons can work together seamlessly in a new generation of operating room that aims to improve the safety, quality and efficiency of surgical procedures.

While innovation in implants, robotics and surgical technology has advanced rapidly, many of the systems and workflows surrounding the procedure are still fragmented, manually coordinated and require disconnected handoffs. Through this collaboration, Zimmer Biomet and Peritas AI are evaluating how real-time agentic orchestration of implants, robotics, instrumentation and humanoid robots — powered by NVIDIA’s Physical AI and accelerated computing — can help connect technologies, workflows and teams across the surgical environment.

The goal is to create a more unified operating room environment — one that uses AI to perceive, orchestrate and act in real time — so clinicians can stay focused on the patient and health systems can operate with greater confidence across preparation, execution and recovery.

“Today’s surgical environment relies on coordinating dozens of systems, data streams and workflows that were never designed to work together,” said Shaun Braun, Senior Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer of Zimmer Biomet. “By collaborating with Peritas AI, we have the opportunity to explore an integrated, AI‑powered platform capable of real‑time perception, prediction and orchestration. When intelligent systems carry the coordination burden, surgeons can give patients something no algorithm can deliver — their complete attention.”

Peritas AI uses NVIDIA Physical AI infrastructure to speed up how intelligent robotic systems are developed, tested and put into use at hospitals. The NVIDIA Isaac for Healthcare framework creates realistic virtual environments, so they can safely train and test robot behavior before bringing it into real hospitals. The platform, which features advanced multimodal reasoning capabilities and is powered by NVIDIA open models, helps assistive humanoid robots understand their surroundings, make smart decisions and move safely in complex surgical areas. This technology supports agent-based surgical workflows while meeting the high standards for safety, reliability and real‑time performance that hospitals require.

“Surgery demands extraordinary focus, and the next evolution of the operating room is an agentic AI‑enabled environment that can anticipate needs and reduce unnecessary friction,” said Cortney Knoll, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peritas AI. “At Peritas AI, we’re building an agentic surgical platform for perioperative orchestration that brings greater alignment and efficiency to the OR. Our collaboration with Zimmer Biomet reflects our shared commitment to rethinking how intelligent systems can better support surgical teams, so they can stay focused on delivering the best possible care for patients.”

About Peritas AI

Peritas AI is building a physical AI platform for perioperative operations—bringing intelligence directly into the physical flow of surgical work. While innovation inside the operating room has advanced rapidly, the systems that prepare, coordinate, and support surgery remain manual, fragmented, and disconnected from real-time execution. Peritas AI embeds perception and multi-agent intelligence directly into live clinical workflows—connecting people, assets, and environments as care is delivered. By orchestrating intelligence at the point of execution, the platform enables surgical operations to sense, coordinate, and adapt in real time—scaling human expertise where precision, reliability, and timing are critical.
