Cutting Edge 2026: Accelerating the Future of Hip & Knee Arthroplasty

Zimmer Biomet's flagship arthroplasty symposium brought together global experts to exchange insights, explore technology and inspire the next generation of surgical excellence

Orlando, Florida set the stage for a milestone moment in orthopedic education as Zimmer Biomet hosted its third Cutting Edge Hip & Knee Arthroplasty Symposium, one of the company’s largest and most comprehensive medical educational events. Designed to bring healthcare professionals together to explore advancements in hip and knee reconstruction, Cutting Edge provides a platform where innovation, evidence and real-world surgical experience intersect.

This year, more than 300 surgeons and nearly 50 faculty* from across North and South America came together with a shared ambition: push the boundaries of hip & knee arthroplasty further than ever before. The symposium emphasized high-impact collaboration, giving attendees the opportunity to engage in 17 educational sessions, hands‑on bioskills labs, 13 interactive breakouts and case‑based discussion breakouts that showcased the latest technologies, clinical insights and surgical techniques shaping modern arthroplasty.

Symposium highlights include:

Early Career Surgeons Program

2026 Early Career Surgeons and Faculty

The symposium kicked off with a dedicated Early Career Surgeons BioSkills training, a program created to support surgeons transitioning into independent practice. Designed around mentorship, hands-on learning, and practical education, this session offered early career surgeons valuable exposure to Zimmer Biomet technologies and modern hip and knee arthroplasty techniques.

Guided by experienced faculty — Drs. Aggarwal, Buttacavolli, Dundon, Heckmann, Lawrie, Riesgo, Shah, Suleiman, Wallace, and Yerasimides — participants engaged in high-impact didactic sessions, open discussions about early-practice challenges and immersive lab experiences designed to build clinical confidence.

The program featured a rotational structure, allowing surgeons to move fluidly between hip and knee bioskills stations affording participants a broad and comprehensive foundation across both reconstructive areas.

2026 Women in Arthoplasty Faculty

Women in Arthroplasty

The Women in Arthroplasty breakfast session titled, “Leadership, Innovation and the Power of Connection in Orthopedics,” brought together a dynamic panel of female pioneers and advocates shaping the future of the field. Led by Drs. Lajam, Suleiman and Wallace, the conversation created an energizing space for female surgeons to discuss the evolving orthopedic landscape—from increasing procedural complexity to the expanding role of technology—while sharing candid peer‑to‑peer perspectives on career challenges and leadership pathways.

In addition to insight and inspiration, the session created meaningful opportunities to share experiences, build community, and strengthen networks, reaffirming attendees' essential role in advancing musculoskeletal care and innovation.
